Privacy Policy

Tylemetry is a mobile app published by Inspector Network LLC under its Creative Anger brand ("we", "us" or "our"). This policy explains how Tylemetry handles information when you use its speedometer, compass, trip recording, records, Way back and export features, and how this website handles information when you visit it.
For privacy questions or requests, contact help@inspectornetwork.com and mention Tylemetry. You do not need an account to contact us.
1. Privacy first
Tylemetry works without an account. The app does not include advertising, advertising identifiers or an automatic upload service for your recordings. The only third-party service the app itself uses is Sentry, for crash reporting, described in section 8. Payments, analytics and maps come into play only if you register for the optional online account described in section 9. We do not receive your location history simply because you use Tylemetry. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
Your recordings are stored on your device. They leave it only when you choose to export or share them, or if you register for an online account and choose which records to sync.
2. Location and sensors
Tylemetry uses your device's location services and, where available, its compass sensors to show your position, ground speed, heading and elevation. With your permission, it can keep receiving location while a recording is active and the screen is locked or another app is open.
Location permissions are controlled by your device. You can change or revoke them in system settings. Revoking a permission stops the features that depend on it from working.
3. What the app stores on your device
Live readings do not require starting a saved record. When you start a record, the app stores its data locally. This includes precise coordinates and timestamps, speed, heading, altitude and accuracy readings, distance and duration calculations, your activity and recording settings, and any names, markers or notes you add.
The local recording journal also keeps received location samples, including samples excluded from displayed statistics, and technical events used to recover and check a recording. Technical identifiers used to coordinate recording stay on the device.
4. Permissions and notifications
Foreground location permission supports live readings and recording while the app is open. Background location permission supports a recording you started while the app is in the background. Android may show an ongoing notification while background recording runs.
Optional speed alerts use local notifications and vibration. The app does not register you with a remote push notification service. Notification permissions and what appears on your lock screen are controlled by your device settings.
5. Place names and elevation
Nearby place names and elevation corrections are calculated from data bundled with the app. Tylemetry does not send your coordinates to a geocoding service for these features. Your operating system's own location services may use network services under Apple's or Google's policies and your device settings.
6. Exports and sharing
Exporting creates a file in Tylemetry's app storage. Sharing uses your device's share sheet, and you choose the destination. Exports may include precise routes, times, speeds, elevations, nearby place names and your notes or markers. If you include the raw journal or share diagnostics, those files can also contain additional location samples and technical recording details.
Review files before sharing. The app does not currently hide home locations or automatically trim the beginning or end of an exported record. A recipient or service you choose may keep, copy or redistribute the information under its own policies. We receive an export only if you choose to send it to us, for example with a support request.
7. Storage, retention and deletion
Recordings, preferences, local lookup caches and generated export files are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Protection depends on the operating system's app isolation, device security and your device settings. Tylemetry does not add a separate encrypted vault for recordings.
Saved recordings remain until you delete them or remove the app's stored data. Deleting a record from the Records screen removes that record and its samples and markers from Tylemetry's database. It does not delete separate export files, copies you shared with others or copies in device backups. To remove all local app data, use your device's app-data removal controls or delete the app and its data.
Your device or account settings may include Tylemetry data in operating-system backups or device transfers. Manage existing backups with your device or backup provider. Restoring a backup may restore data you previously removed from the app. We cannot retrieve or remotely delete recordings that exist only on your device.
8. Crash reporting
The app uses Sentry, an error-monitoring service, to report crashes and unexpected errors so we can fix them. A crash report contains technical details such as the device model, operating system version, app version, the error and the code path that led to it. It may also include app data relevant to the error, which can include recording data such as recent location samples, readings or settings when the error involved them. We use crash reports only to find and fix the root cause of the error, and we keep them only as long as necessary to do that. Sentry processes these reports for us under its own privacy policy. Crash reporting is the only data the app sends anywhere on its own.
9. Optional online account and portal
The app does not need an account, and nothing is uploaded unless you choose it. An optional online account and portal is a separate service that is currently in development. If you register for one once it is available, you choose which records to sync, and the following services are also used:
- Stripe processes payments for the online service. Your payment details go directly to Stripe; we store only limited billing information, if any. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics measures how the portal is used so we can improve it. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Maps displays the records you sync on a map. Rendering a map sends the coordinates being displayed to Google. See Google's privacy policy.
Registering also means we hold your account details, such as your email address, and the records you chose to sync. We will explain what is sent and how it is handled before you turn syncing on, and we will update this policy and its date when the service launches.
10. This website
This website does not have accounts or advertising. It sets cookies that its web framework needs to serve pages securely, such as a session identifier and a request-forgery token. It also uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, which sets its own cookies. We do not use cookies for targeted advertising. You can block or remove cookies in your browser; doing so may affect some site functions. For more on how Google uses data, see Google's Privacy & Terms. Our hosting provider receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in standard server logs.
Opening the privacy policy link from the app does not attach your recordings or coordinates to the request.
11. Support
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments you choose to include. We use that information to respond, investigate issues and handle your request. Our email and support providers process those communications for us. We keep support information as needed to resolve requests, maintain relevant support records and meet legal obligations. Please avoid sending location histories or other sensitive information unless your request needs them.
12. App stores and other services
Apple, Google, your backup provider and any service you choose for sharing process information under their own policies. App-store downloads, payments and platform diagnostics are handled by the applicable platform. These interactions are separate from Tylemetry's local recording.
13. Children's privacy
Tylemetry is not directed to children under 13. The app does not collect personal information from anyone, and the online account is for adults. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to protect information we hold, such as support correspondence. No security measure is perfect. The security of recordings on your device depends on your device's own protections and settings.
15. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. Because recordings stay on your device, in most cases you exercise those rights directly in the app or through your device. For information we hold, such as a support request, an online account or synced records, contact us and we will respond. You do not need an account to make a request.
16. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if Tylemetry's data practices change and show the new date at the top of this page. A feature that changes how the app accesses or shares information will be explained when it is introduced, with permission requested where required.
